Does AI mean you don’t need a website anymore?
AI can’t find you if you’re not producing content. I’ve seen quite a few people ask if they need a website nowadays, because everyone’s finding things through AI, as if it’s some kind of oracle, able to divine that you exist.
It can’t.
AI acts like a search engine. It reads everything and then shares with you what it knows about a topic.
There are some places it crawls more than others but you have to be in the game to get found through it. And you have to share something it finds valuable enough to regurgitate when asked about your area of expertise.
You need a website that clearly says who you are, what you do, who you do it for, and how you help.
You need testimonials that show you genuinely do what you do, and that you get results.
And you need some form of content. That could be blog posts, videos, or a podcast.
If you’re doing videos or a podcast, put a post on your blog about each one and embed the content. Put shownotes underneath it.
Have a link back to your website from wherever you publish your video or podcast.
And don’t forget that AI is not the only game in town. It’s still very early days.
Where else could you be showing up? And yes, good old-fashioned going out and meeting people could be the best use of your time.
And when they check you out, they are likely to look at your website to make sure you are who you say you are.
Which brings us back to you needing a website, and you needing to keep it up to date with fresh content.
